Dimensional weight calculator
Carriers charge for the space a parcel takes up, not only what it weighs. Enter your packed dimensions and weight to see which one sets the price.
In short
Dimensional (volumetric) weight is the packed volume divided by the carrier's divisor. Billable weight is the greater of dimensional weight and actual packed weight. Carriers set their own divisor and rounding.
Calculator
Your parcel's billable weight.
Nothing you enter is sent or stored.
Measure the packed parcel, not the product. Common divisors are 5,000 and 6,000 (cm³ per kg); use the one your carrier and service publish.

Carriers apply their own rounding (for example to the next half or whole unit) and may add surcharges for oversized parcels. Treat this as an estimate.
Method
How it's calculated.
The same steps a carrier follows before applying its own rounding and any oversize surcharges.
- Volume
- length × width × height of the packed parcel
- Volumetric weight
- volume ÷ carrier divisor
- Billable weight
- the greater of actual packed weight and volumetric weight
FAQ
Dimensional weight questions
What is dimensional weight?
Dimensional (volumetric) weight is a weight calculated from a parcel's size. Carriers use it so that large, light parcels are charged for the space they take up. It is the packed volume divided by a divisor set by the carrier.
How is billable weight calculated?
Billable (chargeable) weight is the greater of the parcel's actual packed weight and its dimensional weight. Carriers then apply their own rounding, often to the next half or whole kilogram or pound.
Which divisor should I use?
Use the divisor your carrier publishes for the service you ship with. 5,000 and 6,000 (cm³ per kg) and 139 and 166 (in³ per lb) are common, but carriers and services differ, and they can change.
How can I lower dimensional weight?
Reduce the packed size: use a mailer or box sized to the product, remove empty space, and avoid packaging that adds volume without protecting the product. Lighter, denser parcels are billed on actual weight.
How does SuperFulfill use dimensional weight?
Shipping is quoted separately from the order fee using the greater of actual packed weight and volumetric weight. The carrier and service determine the calculation and rounding, so ask for a quote priced on your packed parcels.
Get shipping priced on your packed parcels.
Send your packed sizes and weights, products and destinations. Shipping is quoted separately from the order fee, and the quotation confirms the shipping terms, including duties and taxes, for each destination.
